Last week during Futures Festival we had the pleasure of meeting Katy Hundertmark at the University of Cumbria who delivered a guest speech to the photography students. The talk was really interesting to hear an insight into her professional career and how she has achieved her current roles. She is currently an Editor for Notes magazine, Communication and Marketing Coordinator at Stills Centre for Photography as well as being a working practitioner.
I was really interested in her professional practice and her projects she has created. After her masters at Glasgow School of art she became interested in sculptures and the relationship that photography and sculptures can have together in order to create narratives. She used this to create three dimensional self portraits which allowed her to appear to be inside the sculpture
After the talk Katy kindly offered a portfolio review to have a look at the work we were creating and gave us her feedback on our projects. Katy seemed to like my work and could see me continuing the project after University and potentially getting the work published or exhibited. It was an amazing opportunity to hear the thoughts and feelings on our work from an outside view from a professional practitioner.
